While the city where the story takes place is at some point in the future it feels like the past. For a book written in the 70s it has the feel of something much older. It was reminiscent of some books I've read recently they were written back in the 20s and 30s.

The characters are both Noble and frustrating. I wanted to yell at them and ask why are you are you doing that while at the same time being amazed at what they're doing.

As the plague grows in intensity, so does the story. I never lost interest and wasn't sure what was going to happen next. I really liked the ending.

The story reminds me somewhat of another author's book I collect
Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged - but not as personally detailed. But this is still a very good story - as are all of Yarbro's books.
Good read that showed the "good guys and the bad guys" as the story progressed. Politics and medicine criss-crossed turing a threatening time that could be close to reality.
